Scars are permanent changes in the structure of the skin that form as a result of injuries, surgery, acne or burns. They may be atrophic (depressed), hypertrophic (raised) or keloid. For many people they are not only an aesthetic problem but also a functional and psychological one.

How does laser scar treatment work?
Laser scar treatment is based on fractional photothermolysis technology. The fractional CO2 laser emits precise microbeams of light that penetrate the dermis, creating controlled micro-injuries.
In response to these injuries, the body starts an intensive process of healing and tissue remodelling. The production of collagen and elastin increases, which leads to the scar becoming shallower, smoother and better in texture. The results look natural, and the skin at the site of the scar becomes more elastic and closer to the surrounding tissue.
Detailed course of laser scar treatment (step by step)
The doctor assesses the type of scar, its age and location, and selects the appropriate laser parameters.
Cleansing and disinfection of the treatment area.
Application of an anaesthetic cream (usually 45-60 minutes before the treatment).
The doctor makes precise passes with the fractional laser over the scar area. You may feel burning or pricking.
Immediately after the treatment the skin is cooled, and regenerating products are applied to the wound.
You receive detailed skincare instructions.
A course of 3-8 treatments at intervals of 4-8 weeks is usually recommended (depending on the type of scar).
A single treatment usually takes 15-40 minutes, depending on the size and number of scars.

Recommendations:
- Intensive moisturising and skin regeneration
- Avoiding the sun and using a high-protection SPF 50+ sunscreen for at least 6-8 weeks
- Do not use the sauna or swimming pool and avoid strenuous exercise for 7-10 days
- Do not pick the scabs
