Karisma results over time - timeline and longevity of the treatment

How many Karisma treatments are needed and how long do the results last? These are the questions I hear most often. Below, from a practitioner's perspective, I explain how the results of the Karisma treatment develop over time, what their longevity depends on, why a course is usually recommended rather than a single treatment, and how to help maintain the result.

What results does the Karisma treatment give?

Karisma is a biostimulator, so its results consist in improving skin quality rather than adding volume. This is an important distinction - it is not about a spectacular change “overnight”, but about a gradual improvement in the condition of the skin. After a course of treatments, patients most often notice:

  • improved skin density, tension and firmness;
  • smoothing of fine lines;
  • a subtle reduction in laxity and a gentle lifting effect;
  • better hydration and a more rested-looking complexion;
  • improved skin quality on the neck and décolletage.

A detailed description of the treatment itself - its composition, procedure and indications - can be found on the page Karisma - what the treatment is, results and price in Wrocław, and if you are only just considering which treatment to choose, you may find the article Karisma collagen biostimulator or another treatment helpful.

When are the results visible?

Because the result builds on the rebuilding of your own collagen, it appears gradually. The first changes - better hydration and a more “radiant” complexion - may be visible after about 3 weeks. The full result usually develops after 8-12 weeks, once fibroblasts have produced new collagen fibres [3][4]. This is why the results of Karisma are not assessed immediately after the treatment, but after several weeks.

This “delayed” dynamic is a feature of biostimulators, not a flaw. A result that comes from the work of the skin itself looks natural and does not change your facial features - and that is exactly what many patients want.

How long do the results of Karisma last?

The longevity of the result depends on age, lifestyle, diet, smoking, sun exposure and the initial condition of the skin. As a guide, results last from 12 to 18 months. It is natural that over time the skin needs support again - the ageing process continues and collagen production decreases with age [2]. Regular, well-considered skincare and maintenance treatments help to maintain the result for longer.

Why does the result develop gradually?

It is worth understanding the biology of this process, as it explains the patience Karisma requires. After the product is injected, fibroblasts need time to synthesise new collagen fibres and “remodel” the skin matrix. This process is measured in weeks, not hours [3][4]. That is why judging the result too early can easily lead to disappointment - real improvement comes once the skin has done its part of the work. The same principle explains why a course of treatments works better than a single injection.

How many Karisma treatments are needed?

For a full, satisfying result, a course of 2-3 treatments at intervals of 4-6 weeks is usually recommended. This schedule makes it possible to stimulate the skin to regenerate gradually and systematically - each subsequent treatment “adds” to the effect of the previous one. A single treatment usually gives a less pronounced and shorter-lasting result. I determine the exact number of sessions individually during the consultation, taking into account the condition of your skin and your expectations.

What does the longevity of the result depend on?

The longevity of the result is not a lottery - to a large extent it depends on factors we can influence. The most important are:

  • Age and initial skin condition. The greater the collagen deficit at the start, the more gradual the improvement tends to be.
  • Lifestyle. Smoking, a diet low in protein and chronic stress shorten how long the result lasts.
  • Sun protection. UV radiation accelerates collagen breakdown - SPF genuinely prolongs the result.
  • Regularity. Completing the planned course and having maintenance treatments give a longer-lasting result than single, occasional visits.

What to realistically expect (and what not to)?

Honesty during the consultation matters more to me than promises. Karisma improves the quality, density and firmness of the skin and gives it a rested look. However, it is not a treatment that fills deep folds, nor a “non-surgical facelift” that will change the shape of your face. If you expect a natural improvement in the condition of your skin, it is a good choice. If your goal is a clear change in volume, let's talk about a different solution.

Can the result be maintained?

Yes. After completing the course, the result can be maintained with single top-up treatments performed every few months to a year or more. We agree the maintenance plan individually - for one person one treatment a year is enough, for another the schedule will be slightly different.

Results on the face, neck, décolletage and hands

Karisma is not only used on the face. The skin of the neck, décolletage and hands ages quickly but is often neglected in skincare - which is why these are common treatment areas. In these areas, too, the result develops gradually and shows mainly as improved hydration, density and firmness of the skin. Because this skin is thinner and more delicate, the injection technique and number of treatments are chosen particularly carefully during the assessment of suitability for the treatment.

The result and the patient's age

Contrary to popular belief, Karisma is not reserved “for mature skin”. In younger people it can be part of anti-ageing prevention - it supports the skin before the collagen deficit becomes pronounced. In older people the result tends to be more gradual and more often requires a full course and maintenance treatments. In both cases, realistic expectations and consistency are key.

How to support and prolong the result?

  • use sun protection (SPF) every day, all year round;
  • look after your skin's hydration and a balanced, protein-rich diet;
  • consider maintenance treatments after completing the course;
  • avoid smoking, which accelerates skin ageing;
  • take care of your sleep and limit stress - they have a real impact on the condition of your skin.

You can see examples of treatment results in our results gallery. Remember, however, that each photo is an individual case, and your result depends on the condition of your skin.

Safety

Swelling, redness or minor bruising may appear temporarily after the treatment and usually resolve within a few days. The result is individual, and the assessment of suitability and the course of the whole series are supervised by a doctor. If you have any doubts, it is best to discuss them during a consultation before starting the treatments.

Summary

The results of Karisma build up gradually and last approximately 12-18 months, and the best results come from a course of 2-3 treatments supported by sensible skincare.
