Laser peel - a modern method of skin resurfacing

Resurfacing – laser peel

Unlike traditional chemical or mechanical peels, the fractional laser works on the principle of selective skin ablation. It emits a beam of light that does not act on the entire skin surface at once, but on microscopic points. This creates a network of micro-injuries (so-called microthermal columns), which are surrounded by healthy, intact tissue.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is practically painless and is performed under local anaesthesia. Patients may feel slight warmth or gentle pricking.

How many treatments are needed?

Results are visible after the first treatment, but 3-5 sessions every 3-4 weeks are recommended for maximum results.

Are there any side effects?

After the treatment the skin is red and slightly swollen; over the following 3-5 days the dead epidermis peels off.

Contraindications to the treatment

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Fresh tan
Active skin infections (cold sores, pustular acne)
Taking photosensitising medications (e.g. retinoids)
