The decision to have a powerful rejuvenating treatment often comes down to one key question: "Will I be able to go to work as normal the next day?". At our clinic in Wrocław we fully understand these concerns.
Unlike aggressive lasers, microneedle radiofrequency performed with the D-Frax device stands out for its very short healing time while delivering spectacular skin remodelling results. D-Frax allows us to control the depth of the punctures precisely, which minimises unnecessary damage to the epidermis.
What exactly does the recovery process look like? When can you apply foundation, and how should you care for your skin in the first few days? Here is a complete guide for MM Clinic patients.

What does the face look like after microneedle radiofrequency?
Immediately after leaving the treatment room, the skin is red and slightly swollen. The sensation is similar to the one we feel after intensive sunbathing - the skin is warm and tight. This is an entirely natural reaction to the thermal stimulation delivered by D-Frax technology.
Below we set out a detailed healing timeline so that you can plan your activities:
| Time since treatment | How the skin looks and feels | Recommendations and activity |
| Day 0 (treatment) | Intense erythema, a visible delicate "grid" (mark left by the handpiece), a feeling of warmth. | Rest, avoid touching your face, sleep on a clean pillowcase. |
| Day 1 (the next morning) | Redness reduced by approx. 60-70%. The skin may be slightly swollen (especially under the eyes). | You can return to office work. Use only the recommended regenerating products. |
| Day 2 | The erythema now resembles only a light pinkness. A feeling of dryness and tightness may appear. | You can apply light mineral make-up. Remember to moisturise. |
| Days 3-4 | The skin returns to its normal colour. It may feel slightly rough to the touch (micro-exfoliation). | Return to full activity. High SPF protection is essential. |
| Day 7+ | The skin is smooth and firm; the actual process of collagen remodelling begins. | You enjoy the first "glow" effects. |
When can you wear make-up after microneedle radiofrequency?
This is one of the questions our patients in Wrocław ask most often. Although it is tempting to cover the redness straight away, the golden rule is: at least 24 hours without make-up.
Why is this so important? Because of the micro-punctures, our skin is open ("as absorbent as a sponge"). Applying coloured cosmetics too early can lead to irritation.
The MM Clinic protocol for returning to make-up:
- 0-24h: No make-up at all. The skin needs to "breathe".
- 24-48h: We recommend mineral make-up. It contains zinc oxide, which has a soothing and antibacterial effect.
- After 48h: You can return to your usual foundation (provided it does not contain alcohol or strong acids).
Important: Always use clean brushes or sponges! Dirty applicators are the easiest route to breakouts on freshly stimulated skin.
Does the treatment keep you from your daily activities?
D-Frax microneedle radiofrequency is often called a "weekend" treatment, although many of our patients have it even in the middle of the week.
Does the treatment put your life on hold? No.
The next morning you can go to work, go shopping or attend a meeting as normal. If you have the treatment on a Friday afternoon, by Monday your skin will already look very good - it will simply appear noticeably tighter.
However, you should avoid intensive workouts, saunas and swimming pools for about 3-4 days. Sweat and heat can aggravate the healing process, and chlorinated pool water can irritate the healing epidermis.
Home care - what should you wash your face with?
Once you are back home, treat your skin with particular care.
- Washing: For the first 24-48h, wash your face with boiled, lukewarm water or saline. Avoid hot tap water.
- Drying: Do not rub your face with a terry towel (a breeding ground for bacteria). Use disposable paper towels, gently pressing them against the skin.
- Cosmetics: Stop using products with retinol, vitamin C or AHA/BHA acids for at least 7 days. Focus on regeneration (products with panthenol and hyaluronic acid).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Microneedle radiofrequency - when can I wear make-up?
We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after the treatment. The needle channels need to close. Once a full day has passed, you can apply light make-up (preferably mineral), using clean applicators.
What should I wash my face with after the treatment?
It is best to use gentle soap-free and alcohol-free cleansers (e.g. syndets, foams for sensitive skin). Rinse your face with lukewarm, boiled water and pat it dry with a disposable paper towel.
Microneedle radiofrequency and the sun - when can you sunbathe?
Direct sunbathing is not allowed for at least 3-4 weeks after the treatment. Use SPF 50 sunscreen. However, the treatment itself - unlike laser - can be performed in summer, provided strict sun protection is maintained.
